Can you find in the Bible where it states one should attend
church? I have a friend that thinks you don’t have to go
to church to worship God; he feels that it is the house of hypocrites. |
| |
|
| |
“23 Let us hold fast the confession
of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.
24 And let us consider one another in
order to stir up love and good works, 25
not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the
manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more
as you see the Day approaching.” (Hebrews 10:23-25)
If anything we should be going to church more often as we see
the Day approaching for Christ’s return! Your friend may
be looking for a perfect church on this earth, if he does find
it tell him not to go to it because he will spoil it, in other
words, there will always be imperfections in the churches on
earth.
Thanks for the question,

Where do dead believers go? |
| |
|
| |
Answer: First, believers never die, their bodies go to sleep,
but their spirit and soul go to heaven immediately. St. Paul
under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit said, “6
So we are always confident, knowing that while we are at home
in the body we are absent from the Lord. 7
For we walk by faith, not by sight. 8
We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from
the body and to be present with the Lord.” (2 Corinthians
5:6-8)
Paul also said in Philippians. 1:23 “For I am hard-pressed
between the two, having a desire to depart and be with Christ,
which is far better. Nevertheless to remain in the flesh is
more needful for you.” There is nothing in these verses
about ‘soul sleep’ as the Seventh Day Adventists
teach, as soon as Paul would pass from this life he said he
would be in the arms of Jesus.
Jesus made it clear that the body of the Christian dies or
goes to sleep, but our spirit does not die. “Most assuredly,
I say to you, if anyone keeps My word he shall never see death.”
(John 8:51) 25 Jesus said to her, "I
am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though
he may die [physically], he shall live [in his/her spirit].
26 And whoever lives and believes in
Me shall never die. Do you believe this?" (John 11:25-26)
We as Christians do not think about death, we think about
life. We are only looking for Christ’s return for us.
As our pastor says, it may be a personal rapture for us or it
may be when Christ raptures the Church out, but for us there
is no death. So your question should read, “Where does
the spirit go when our bodies die? The answer for your question
is they go to heaven to the place Christ is preparing for us.
"Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe
also in Me. 2 In My Father's house are
many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go
to prepare a place for you. 3 And if
I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive
you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.”
(John 14:1-3)
Then you want to look at this answer as well: Where
does the Christian go at death?
I hope this is what you were looking for,

I was married to a man who called himself a Christian and
who ended up beating me all day. I asked for help and we got separated
for one year. I accepted him back, because he said he was now
a new man and also because of our two boys. He continued to beat
on all of us. We got divorced. I found this…man to whom
I am married now and we are truly happy. We are a real family.
The children are great and we attend a local Christian church
always with a great joy in our hearts. My question is: am I living
in sin? Thanks. |
| |
|
| |
Answer: The short answer to your question is ‘NO’
you are not living in sin! The reason I say this is because,
yes, a person is committing adultery when they leave their spouse
and marry another without Scriptural grounds, but that does
not mean that they are living in sin every day after that for
the rest of their lives. Also, I cannot comment on whether you
did have other reasons for divorce other than the physical abuse
because you have not told us about this. However, even so you
would not be expected by God to stay in an abusive condition,
but this would not constitute a basis for remarriage except
for infidelity on his part.
I am not, of course advocating divorce, but once the divorce
has taken place and a person has moved on and remarried you
cannot go back to your former spouse. That would be a serious
mistake! St. Paul says we are to forget those things that are
behind and go on with our lives living for Jesus. “Brethren,
I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do
, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward
to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for
the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”
(Philippians 3:13-14) We live every day looking forward, not
back!
If you remarried without Biblical bases, I believe you committed
that ‘one’ act of adultery, but that does not continue
after that. Jesus did not say a person is ‘living in adultery,
but that they commit adultery when they remarry, except for
the reason of sexual immorality. “And I say to you, whoever
divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries
another, committs adultery, and whoever marries her who is divorced
commits adultery.” (Matthew 19:19)
In saying this, again, I am in no way endorsing or condoning
the divorce and remarriage. However, once that has taken place,
we cannot look back as Paul makes abundantly clear. We need
to move on with our lives. When we have sinned we ask God’s
forgiveness and we get up and go on. It is kind of like a child
that falls, what would we think if they didn’t pick themselves
up and keep going? No, they have to get up and start again.
That is what 1 John 1:9 is all about: “If we confess our
sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to
cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9)
I want to give you here something else I have
written in response to another question that is similar to yours.
My family believes that if you divorce for any reason and
remarry another, you are living in sin. That I also believe,
but the confusing thing [that] I cannot get them to see is if
that divorced person now gets saved [they shouldn’t go
back to the first husband or wife.] They believe that that person
should go back to the first wife or husband. Now that I am wiser
and reading my Bible I see nothing in the Bible that supports
that. How can I get them to see that two wrongs don’t
make it right?
Answer: The Scripture you are probably looking for to support
your case about not going back to marry the one you divorced
after you have remarried is: “When a man takes a wife
and marries her, and it happens that she finds no favor in his
eyes because he has found some uncleanness in her, and he writes
her a certificate of divorce, puts it in her hand, and sends
her out of his house, when she has departed from his house,
and goes and becomes another man’s wife if the latter
husband detests her and writes her a certificate of divorce,
puts it in her hand, and sends her out of his house, or if the
latter husband dies who took her as his wife, then her former
husband who divorced her must not take her back to be his wife
after she has been defiled; for that is an abomination before
the LORD… (Deuteronomy 24: 1-4a)
The other thing I would like to talk about though is that
when you say that there is never a reason for divorce and remarriage,
this is just not correct. Jesus said that a person may get a
divorce when there is sexual immorality. “But I say to
you that whoever divorces his wife for any reason except sexual
immorality causes her to commit adultery, and whoever marries
a woman who is divorced commits adultery.” (Matthew 5:32)
The point is that anyone who divorces someone except for sexual
immorality is sinning. However, if there is sexual immorality
the person sinned against can divorce and remarry without sinning,
or else why would Jesus say except for sexual immorality? He
would have just said if a person divorces and remarries they
are committing sin. That does not mean, of course, that they
have to remarry, but if they do they have not sinned according
to Jesus.
I hope this helps,

When Jesus comes back for the Church, will unborn babies
go to heaven still? Also, in the Battle of Armageddon, will we
fight or just the angels? |
| |
|
| |
Answer: These are good questions and I will try to show
some Scripture verses that apply. First, “When Jesus comes
back for the Church, will unborn babies go to heaven still?”
Only God really knows the answer to this, but there is a hint
I believe as to what will happen in this verse: “For the
unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving
wife is sanctified by the husband ; otherwise your children
would be unclean, but now they are holy.” (1 Corinthians
7:14)
Just speculating on this, it seems that since the children
that are born are considered holy when there is at least one
parent who is saved, so too does it make sense that the unborn
baby of a believing mother will go to heaven with her. We know
this is true of all those who are before the age of accountability.
We have an article on this; it is called, What
is the Age of Accountability?
In the Battle of Armageddon it is true that we and the holy
angles will return with the LORD JESUS CHRIST as He comes back
to this earth as KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS. However, it
looks like He destroys His enemies with the Sword of His mouth,
in other words, He says the word and they are destroyed. “Now
out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should
strike the nations.” (Revelation 19:15a)
These are my thoughts,

Who will be the Anti-Christ?
|
| |
|
| |
Answer: To answer you question I would like to quote R.A.
Torrey from his book Practical and Perplexing Questions Answered.
He says and I quote: “The Antichrist will be a person
in whom Satan’s resistance to Christ and His kingdom will
culminate. He will be a man, but a man whom Satan will fill
to such an extent that he will be Satan incarnate.
“The Devil always seeks to [copy] God’s work, and
his [copying] of God’s work will culminate in his [copying]
of the incarnation of God in Jesus Christ. “9
The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of
Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, 10
and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because
they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might
be saved.” 2 Thessalonians 2: 9, 10
“He [the Antichrist] will appear just previous to the
coming of Jesus Christ, and our Lord will consume him with the
breath of His mouth… “8 And then the lawless one
will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the breath
of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming.”
(2 Thessalonians 2:8)
“There are already many antichrists preparing the way
for the final and consummate Antichrist ‘18 Little children,
it is the last hour; and as you have heard that the Antichrist
is coming, even now many antichrists have come, by which we
know that it is the last hour.’ (1 John 2:18).
“Indeed, every one that [denies] the Father and the Son
is an antichrist, but there seems to be an especial preparation
for the Antichrist, in whom all the forces of evil shall head
up, in the papacy on the one hand and in rationalism and anarchy
on the other hand.
“The papacy, the anarchistic socialism [communism] and
rationalism [humanists] some day will join and be headed by
one man whom the Devil shall especially gift and in whom he
shall dwell, and that man will be the Antichrist.”
I hope this helps,

Hello, my name is -----, and I was truly impressed with this
article [Is it Alright for Christians
to Drink Alcohol?]. It is so hard to find a man of God who
will be willing to tell the truth these days, concerning the
gospel of Christ. I agree with you completely that Christians
should not, and are not supposed to drink alcohol, because it
says that Christ is without sin, and then in other areas it
condemns drinking in Proverbs and many other Old Testament verses.
I am encouraged by this to know that I am on the right path.
Maybe if you have the time an article on Spirit Baptism would

A prostitute sent this letter to us some time ago,
but I feel it could be used now to help others, who are caught

me assure you, though, that she is a real person.
Dear Gary, My name is --------, I am 25 years old, and I have
a beautiful 19 month old daughter, -------. Here’s my
deal. I’m a prostitute. I’ve been one for about
5 years, 4 of which I have been in ---------. My daughter’s
father used to be my pimp, but he now wants nothing to do with
either of us.
I was raised by my mom who is a good Christian, so I sometimes
wonder how I chose the road I am now traveling down. I need
help. I’ve been praying to God a lot lately to give me
the strength to get out of this life, but I’m still doing
it, and I don’t know how to get out of it.
I have a child to support so it’s not like I can stop
tomorrow and still support my baby and I. I don’t know
what to do and I don’t know how to get out of this. I
read your article on the Internet about how Jesus still loves
prostitutes [,] and thought I would write to you. Maybe you

Should a Christian woman stay in a marriage of verbal abuse
for over 20+ years when the husband refuses to go and get some
help and counseling and is angry at the whole world and he is
also a racist. He has repeatedly said that he has done nothing
wrong and that he is not changing for anyone especially his
wife and daughter. The family had almost ended up in a physical
fight with which all three involved could have been hurt or
killed.
The husband had told the wife and daughter to get the ______out!!!
The wife and daughter finally left and have not been back for
about 10 months. He has called and harassed [his] wife and daughter
on the phone several times with threats etc. The wife and daughter
were getting so physically sick that they could NOT take it
any longer. He is a very, very, prideful man and does NOT like
a woman to tell him anything or what to do.
He does NOT listen and respect his family’s views. The
wife has left him over and over again and still went back because
of their baby. This man was always in and out of work and it
was always the other employee’s fault and he blamed it
on the management all the time. You just could NOT reason with
him anymore and the most important thing is that he just would
NOT listen either way.
The only thing that he really did a great job (100%) was paying
all the bills and putting money in checking account for food.
He has stopped paying the car insurance for wife and daughter
since they have moved out.
I would so appreciate some advice on this situation. The wife
and daughter have felt sooooooooooooo much better and have had
no knots in their stomach and feeling sickly [as they did when
they were] living in that home. It had gotten to be truly un-bearable.

I am concerned by the state of the church in America to-date.
It seems church growth is the driving force, and winning the
lost has taken a backseat. My husband, of 37 years, is unsaved
and I am very aware of the lose of intensity for the salvation
of the lost. Also, of concern (and related) is that sermons
and worship services seem to be of an intellectual ‘bent.’
Clearly, “man believes with the heart.” We are saved
‘with our heart, not our heads.’ What do you think,
is the church in a ‘drift?’

You should rethink your theory of a Satan, and demons running
around, not to mention the notion that there is a hell!!! How
can a God be all loving, all forgiving, all knowing, and create
me full well knowing I will reject his beliefs, and then damn
me to a fiery hell forever [?] Not my God, maybe yours, mine
loves me no matter my mistakes, or beliefs, and will welcome
me to heaven. I believe people in that day, the Catholic church,
needed to instill fear to gain control. I hope one day you can
release your fear and know you will go to the other side no
matter your mistakes, even if you haven’t had a chance
to ask for forgiveness.
I find it odd your knowledge of “Satan.” How are
demons privy to knowledge only God knows according to you [?]
Is God letting him in on some secrets just to trip us up [?]
Realistically, do you really invest your life of fear to a
group of “leaders” who control what you read and
believe for hundreds of years that just gradually becomes the
bible [?]
I believe that a lot of the recording of history is accurate,
and the interpretation of messages from God are just that, and
most likely made to suit the authorities of that era, when little
if no resistance from those lower to challenge the laws. I’m
sorry you have to worry you might not make it in, could your
God be so cruel?

The question on alcohol, if a Christian wasn’t
allowed alcohol, why did the Pharisees condemn Jesus for drinking,
if it wasn’t alcohol. Why did Jesus say not to drink wine in
excess if there was no alcohol in it? Also, why did the Corinthian
believers get drunk on it? Why did Lot get drunk? As for the
Catholic Church questions, doesn’t Jesus tell His people to
come out of her in Revelation? I believe the Lord was talking

he should leave that church and not be encouraged to stay there.

Is it alright for two Christians to live together
without being married? My sister’s boyfriend’s brother, who
is a Christian, lives with his girlfriend. I don’t know if there
is any sexual activity going on, but I think this is influencing
my sister to consider doing the same. She feels that there is
nothing wrong with spending the night at her boyfriend’s house
or having him spend the night at our house. How does God feel
about this? Is it living in sin?

What happens to your spouse and you after you
die, are you still united in a marriage bond? I know when you
confess your vows before Christ you state till death do us part.
The scripture states that in heaven we will be like the angels
not given in marriage. I am just curious, if God is so protective
over the marriage union, what happens to us after we die? Do
we just say after 30, 40, or 50 years of loving harmony in joy,
and sorrow, "Hey its been fun see ya around sometime," then
spend your time just hanging out with the boys watching football?

I'm seeking God's guidance in a decision that
needs to be made. It was suggested to me that I "throw
out a fleece." I know the story of Gideon so no need to preach
a history lesson on him...but what defines a fleece? It's something
only God can do, I know that. But are there certain guidelines
to the whole thing? Can I ask God to produce a snow storm?
Can I ask God to let me see a rainbow even if it's not raining?
Does it have to be something natural like that? Or can it be
something as simple as asking God to make the phone ring at
a certain time? Let the next person who walks in be a certain
person? Or can it be all of these?

After reading your site I was touched. As I
have always felt this way. I can worship in any church with
believers. I do have one problem. My husband is Catholic and
I was raised Methodist.
I would like to be Catholic with my husband because it brings
peace in our home; however, will God be angry with me? Is it
okay to pray to Mary to ask her to pray for us? What about calling
the Pope the Holy Father? Are these things considered idolatry?
My husband loves God and we believe in no other gods. We do
not consider the Pope above God nor Mary, however I do not want
to be offending God. My family is against me being Catholic
because of these issues. What do you say about this?
I know you are a protestant, however you seem to not separate
yourself from any true believer. I also have some family members
who are trying to bring back old Jewish traditions. This past
year we celebrated Rosh Hashanah. They say our holidays are
evil.
All of this is confusing me. What should I do? Please help
me understand God’s Word. As I believe He has all the answers
in the Bible, if I only knew how to interpret it.

My husband WAS a recovering alcoholic. He has
drastically fallen off the wagon again. I love him dearly, but
cannot endure a lifetime of the lying, secrets, drunkenness
and basically a husband who would prefer to stay at the office
and drink than be with his family... We have been going to Biblical
counseling, but he has since refused to go and admitted that
all the promises he made there were lies, and he never intends
to stop drinking...take it or leave. I left it. I have temporarily
moved in with my parents, hoping that he will understand what
his choice of alcohol is costing him. I know the Bible would
say to not throw in the towel ever, but in our situation I don't
think it is practical or safe for myself or our children. Any
thoughts? Thanks

I love a Muslim very much and I am a Christian.
We both strongly love God and we pray that he is with us. We
want to pray together that God will be with us and be on our
side. My boyfriend feels that God is [on our side] because we
are both seeking to love him. We want to get married. I believe
that love comes from God and that if I did not have God, I could
not love.
Is it really so wrong to love him and want to marry him? Sometimes
I pray for signs asking if it is ok to marry him and the signs
turn out in my favor. What does this mean? If I marry him, will
God not accept me? Will God turn his back on me for loving someone
who loves me just as much as I love him? Is it wrong to pray
to God, saying to him, "God, if you don’t want us to marry,
then intervene and separate us. Put someone between us." If
I’m not supposed to marry him, then why do I have so much love
for him? What do I do?

My surrounding (i.e. The sky, the moon the stars creation in

am, I am really sort of impatient. I want more of my Lord, and
I want to grow more spiritually with Him, but I feel that I
am not doing something right. I want and need to feel His presence
all the time. There are times that I think that I do, and there
are times that I don’t. I want to know how to reach Him with
my spirit. How can I know if I am doing it right. Yes, I am
an infant spiritually. Your studies are so helpful to me as
I started to really read the Bible.

These two questions came at different times,
but I believe they could be related. 1. If a husband is into
drunkenness, he steals from his wife and their children, he
has been verbally and physically abusive, and he has had extra
martial affairs, is she wrong for divorcing him (paraphrased)?
Even when he refuses to leave the martial home? 2. What does
the Bible say about loyalty, once broken, can it ever be restored?

I have been married for nine years; my husband
and I are going through a difficult period right now....he does
not believe that he has to set boundaries for his family...He
also has a niece and nephew living in another house next door
to us, he pays their bills...when he comes to his family and
does not agree with anything I have an opinion about...His family
has become a burden to me, he and I have 3 children of our own...I
have built up a lot of resentment towards them. Since we started
having these problems he has turned to another woman...who has
two children by him and a baby by her husband...He says she
understands how he feels about his family...He recently bought
airline tickets for them to come to the town where we live and
he is paying for her to stay in a hotel...and he has taken our
three children with him when he goes to spend time with her.
I have decided to let him have this time with her, because I
cannot do anything else. I am praying that he sees what he is
doing as wrong, and come back to me. I have faith in God that
he will bring my husband back to me. Am I fool to stick it out
till the end, what scriptures can I use to aid in my final decision?

What is God telling us (in the following verses),
beyond the obvious? Both cities where these events took place
were totally destroyed. Did God provide the detailed description
of these people’s sinful behavior so that we could conclude
that EVERY city state in Canaan was guilty of this identical
crime and MUST be totally destroyed? Are we being told homosexuality
was customary for those who worshiped Baal and Asherah?
"They shouted to Lot, ‘Where are the men who came to spend

Isaiah 53:5 says that by His stripes we are

of this verse physical or spiritual? Both are true but I believe
using the verse in the correct context is dividing the word

A person of Muslim faith has brought to me
a question in argument pointing out a flaw of the scripture
over the unfair treatment of women in the scriptures. The scripture
that is brought before me is from Deuteronomy 22:28-29. I will
quote what the person of Muslim faith actually wrote: "If a
man happens to meet a virgin who is not pledged to be married
and rapes her and they are discovered, he shall pay the girl’s
father fifty shekels of silver. He must marry the girl, for
he has violated her. He can never divorce her as long as he
lives. One must ask a simple question here, who is really punished,
the man who raped the woman or the woman who was raped? According
to the Bible, you have to spend the rest of your life with the
man who raped you. The Prophet Muhammad says [volume 9, book
86, number 101] narrated by Aisha: ‘It is essential to have
the consent of a virgin (for the marriage).’"

(paraphrased) My daughter became a Christian
after marraige, but her husband is unsaved, and an alcoholic.
They have been married for several years and have a teenage
son. She has stayed with him to be obedient to God.
Her husband works, stops to drink, then comes home and eats
dinner and passes out. He is not a husband to his wife
or a father to his son. She has been in this situation
so long it is keeping her from getting closer to God.
Her husband doesn't acknowldge her and only loves her for the
things she does for him. She has been unable to get good
advice, only that she should "kill him with kindness" or that
she should accept the blame or change her attitude. It
makes me furious with God that she has put all of her effort
into this marriage and nothing has changed.

Question: I found your words on the net:
"Sometimes we have to dig to find the answers, and that is what
God wants, He wants us to dig into His Word, that is perfect,
and it will enlighten our souls." I have been unable to
discover an answer for the questions below regarding feeding
Israel during their 40 years in the wilderness. If I am asked
any of these questions I don't have a ready answer. That is
not good. "Oh, for some meat!" Numbers 11-4
Please help me find an answer to these questions:
1. Why did the Israelites not eat meat from their vast herds
of animals? (In Exodus 16:3 the Israelites complained that they
did not have enough to eat.)
2. Were Israelites tired of the "evening meal of quail" or
did God stop sending it?
3. There is no mention that the "evening meal of meat" (quail)
mentioned in Exodus 16:12 ever stopped. What happened to the
quail God had been providing?
4. Most of the sacrificial meat (sheep, goats, cattle) was
eaten by the person/family making the offering. True/False?
5. Do you agree that there were at least 2.4 million Israelites
during the Exodus?

Recently you gave an explanation of "poor in
spirit" to mean that one is "empty of self righteousness." I
read all you said and I still don’t understand how you came
to that conclusion. The Scripture references you gave did not
support your answer. My interpretation of the passages you quoted

in need of our Savior. I am grateful for your website and learn
much from it. I just needed to give another interpretation and
