Assisted suicide proliferation indicates moral decadence
First assisted suicide is legalized for terminally ill people, then [its] expanded to the handicapped, depressed people – those who don’t like the idea of aging – and the list goes on and on, until it’s pretty much out of control.
A 66 years of age, Joni and Friends International Founder and President Joni Earekson, has been a quadriplegic since she had a car accident at 17, points out that so-called “mercy killing” is under consideration in 18 states.
“It jeopardizes the weak, the medically fragile, the infirm – people with significant disabilities like me and the elderly,” Tada contends. “Boy, we’re in a country now where healthcare dollars are getting more and more scarce, and that now makes assisted suicide a healthcare option to people with terminal illnesses.”
Assisted suicide is cheaper for the government than medical treatment. Americans from a biblical perspective believe that what people need is better pain management and counseling. If a disparaging person is considering taking his life. he is afforded counseling.
“Society will provide him support services to help him – to counsel him through and out of his clinical depression,” Tada explained. “Society doesn’t want an able-bodied person to commit suicide, so why is it that society abandons that when it comes to people like me with disabilities?”
The pro-life leader maintains that the proliferation of assisted suicide in America is not just the government’s fault.
“Politics always flows downstream from culture, and the culture is filled with so many messages that extoll people’s individual rights and their sense of entitlement,” asserted Tada before indicating that the issued as actually a spiritual battle that she believes can be won.
