‘Last Man Standing’ couldn’t withstand Hollywood

Tim Allen and "Last Man Standing"A popular ABC sitcom got the axe last week and observers are wondering if the show’s conservative theme and anti-liberal jibes led to its demise.

“Last Man Standing,” starring Tim Allen was cut after six seasons. Allen played sporting goods store owner Mike Baxter who opined about the goings-on in a seemingly crazy world while raising a family.

Entertainment website Variety reports that ratings had “waned” after six seasons but website tvbythenumbers seemed surprised at the news, citing a strong showing for adults 18 to 49 for a Friday night comedy.

When “Last Man Standing” was wrapping up in March, the same website reported the comedy was watched by 6.2 million – the most-watched ABC program when it competed with NCAA Tournament coverage on CBS.

Dan Gainor of Media Research Center agrees that “Last Man Standing” had dipped in the ratings, but he suspects that ABC executives were unhappy with the only network show that defended Donald Trump during the presidential campaign last year.

“The reason why it was cancelled is because it has no network support,” he tells OneNewsNow.

At the same time conservatives are upset over “Last Man Standing,” homosexual activists are upset after ABC canceled sacrilegious comedy “The Real O’Neals” (pictured below) after two seasons.

The Real O'Neals ABC“‘The Real O’Neals’ cancellation is a real loss for gay visibility,” complained Advocate.com, a homosexual-friendly website.

The sitcom is loosely based on homosexual rights activist Dan Savage, who served as executive producer of a show that mocked his Catholic upbringing.

Savage is also an anti-bullying advocate who cursed and mocked high school students after they walked out of his speech that mocked the Bible, and ABC was under pressure to turn down the comedy before it even aired due to that controversial incident and others by Savage.

“TV is being used,” says Gainor, “as a way of bullying, propagandizing, intimidating, harassing the American public into supporting the liberal agenda.”

Yet ABC executives have apparently dropped one unpopular show that glamorized liberal ideas – and a successful show that mocked them.
