Vegas Sheriff Investigating ‘Person of Interest’

Vegas Sheriff Investigating ‘Person of Interest’
Clark County Sheriff Joseph Lombardo said alleged Las Vegas mass murderer Stephen Paddock was a lone shooter, but his investigators are now looking into a second “person of interest” in the case.

January 19, 2018

In his first press conference in more than three months, Clark County, Nev., Sheriff Joe Lombardo provided new details in the ongoing investigation into the Route 91 Harvest massacre in Las Vegas last year.

Among the biggest pieces of news to come from the press conference was the announcement that while Stephen Paddock is still believed to have acted alone, police are now investigating a second “person of interest.” That other person, Lombardo added, is not Paddock’s girlfriend, Marilou Danley.

The sheriff also released an 81-page preliminary report, which he said was the product of more than 2,000 interviews and the review of more than 21,500 hours of video since the Oct. 1 shooting at the Mandalay Bay casino and hotel. That report offered another shocking piece of information: Paddock’s laptop computer contained “numerous” child pornography photos.

Paddock’s brother Bruce was arrested after the shooting by Los Angeles police for possessing child pornography. That stemmed from an investigation that began months prior.

The police report also noted that in the 12 months prior to the attack, Stephen Paddock purchased more than twice as many firearms as he had bought in the 24 years since his first purchase. All of the purchases were conducted legally, either in stores or online.

The report states Paddock didn’t break any firearms laws until he fired his first shot.
