(TRUNEWS) Investigators are looking into more claims of multiple prepaid cell phones being purchased by men at Walmart stores in Missouri.

TRUNEWS reported Thursday https://www.trunews.com/bulk-purchases-of-cell-phone-alerts-terror-investigators/large quantities of cell phones were bought at stores in Columbia, Macon and Lebanon on Dec. 4. Now, officials are claiming phones were also picked up in Jackson and Cape Girardeau.

A witness told KFVS she and a family member saw a man with several phones and thought it was suspicious. But the cashier said the person was price matching. Cape Girardeau Police Chief Wes Blair said many phones are purchased in the U.S. and shipped overseas. He turned over the information to the FBI, but said he doesn’t believe the public should be alarmed.

Officials in Jackson also commented.

“It wasn’t a crime and it apparently wasn’t against store policy,” said Jackson Police Chief James Humphreys said. “Walmart, just as we would, thought it seemed suspicious and it wasn’t an everyday purchase.”

It is not clear if the same men made all the purchases.

Prepaid cell phones can be used by terrorists to avoid detection, because they are discarded after use. They can also be used as bomb detonators.

ISIS has been reportedly using prepaid cell phones to communicate through their app, which they designed to work on Android phones. It provides them with a more secure way to communicate, instead of just through social media.

The 9/11 hijackers used them for months to coordinate their attack.

Law enforcement agencies have also informed the FBI about propane tanks being stolen in recent weeks, from the outside cages of several stores in the Kansas City suburbs of Lee’s Summit and Independence.

Yesterday a man crashed a pickup truck carrying propane tanks on the campus of Arkansas State University.  He was taken into custody.
