(TRUNEWS) The Massachusetts House will vote on Thursday on whether to ban sexual orientation therapy for children and teens. It is one of three pro-gay issues to be discussed in the near future.
As school districts increasingly cave into pressure to install transgender restrooms and locker rooms and have changed pronouns and avoided words like “boy” and “girl”, the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender or LGBT movement has sought to push for the elimination of counseling for youth who are dealing with gay and transgender identity issues.
Bill H97 in Massachusetts would stop these children from getting help, even if they were sexually assaulted or raped, which is the cause of many of these cases. Mental health professionals can often help them heal.
According to the pro-family MassResistance, the lobbyists use fear and lies to get legislators to agree with their cause. They claim counseling causes depression and bad behavior. But the pro family groups have testimonies of many adults who have reported being saved by therapy.
The ban on counseling has been approved in New Jersey, California and Oregon.
There are other, similar bills the Massachusetts Legislature will also hear soon, including the Planned Parenthood sex-education bill and the transgender bathroom bill.
Approved by the Senate in November, S2048 will require school districts to teach sex education classes in a way that is age-appropriate and medically accurate. But, family groups claim the curriculum is unsuitable. One workbook for seventh graders described non-traditional sex techniques.
The other impending bill involves transgender bathrooms in public places, including schools. The measure, H1577 would allow transgender people to use any restroom or locker room. Religious exemptions are not allowed. Fines can be assessed for those found to be in violation of the law, and they could also be sued by transgender accusers.
All three bills were stopped last session, but the pro-gay lobbyists are pushing harder now for their passage.
