Egypt letting Christians die, says ICC

Coptic Christian church in EgyptCoptic Christians in Egypt continue to face intense persecution.

Angry Muslim mobs have been attacking Christians on suspicion of houses being turned into churches.

According to International Christian Concern, it has happened three times in the last couple of weeks.  One Christian young man has been killed, others were injured while Coptic homes have been looted and destroyed.

“It’s totally absurd,” says ICC spokesperson Sandra Elliot, “that because some Christians are meeting in a building regularly that a mob of a thousand men should come and burn their houses to the ground and kill their young.  It’s a travesty.”

Elliot says more Muslims are being emboldened because of the failures of local police to respond appropriately to the attacks.

“It just kind of takes one angry riled up imam or preacher to get his entire mosque on their feet to run after the Christians and attack their homes,” she tells OneNewsNow.

ICC is once again calling on the Egyptian government “to do more to secure the lives and properties of all its citizens, including and especially Christians,” she says.
