AFA asks Hilton to rethink its marketing
An ad placed in Travel and Leisure Magazine by Hilton Worldwide in June shows two men cuddled in bed.
AFA spokesman Ed Vitagliano says the ad goes too far.
“We don’t think the promotion of homosexual activity is moral,” he says, speaking for AFA, “and we don’t think it is healthy and we’re disappointed.”
The Hilton hotel chain includes Embassy Suites, Hampton Inns and 11 other properties.
The hotel chain can find other ways to appeal to the homosexuals rather than showing them in bed, he says, calling the allusion to homosexual sex “a bridge too far.”
AFA has launched a petition drive to urge Hilton to rethink its ad in the magazine, reminding the hotel chain that Travel and Leisure is a mainstream periodical aimed at families.
There’s a good chance Hilton executives will ignore the public, however, since the corporation has a “perfect” score of 100 from the Human Rights Campaign, the country’s largest homosexual lobbying group.
Yet homosexual sex is still considered life-threatening behavior by the Centers for Disease Control, so AFA will urge Hilton to reconsider its actions.
“We want Hilton to find out just how many people do not appreciate this kind of explicit advertisement,” Vitagliano says.
