Recovery efforts are under way in Louisiana after tornadoes rumbled through the state on Tuesday.

Samaritan’s Purse is at work in New Orleans, where one of the twisters – an EF3 – injured more than 30 people and damaged more than 300 structures.

The ministry’s Todd Taylor, who is on the ground there, says “house after house” has have been damaged or destroyed.

Those same houses, he says, were flooded by Hurricane Katrina 12 years ago.

Taylor says Samaritan’s Purse is providing assistance: removing trees and covering roofs, and helping storm victims clean up yards and pick through their belongings.

“We also have our Billy Graham Rapid Response Team chaplains with us that will be providing spiritual and emotional care for these homeowners that have been so affected,” says Taylor.

He adds that donations and volunteers are needed as they are also working in Mississippi and Georgia as twisters struck those states last month.
