If Mattis won’t end military transgender policy, someone will
Many conservatives believe that U.S. Secretary of Defense James Mattis should have completely pulled the plug on the Obama-era mandate that requires the military to recruit people who identify as transgender, provide taxpayer dollars to pay for transgender transitioning, and deny conscience protections for members of the military who oppose transgender transition efforts.
American Family Association (AFA) Public Policy Analyst Abraham Hamilton III, who also serves as the pro-family organization’s general counsel, is amazed that the most powerful military on Earth has allowed – and continues to allow – such a problematic policy that compromises the ability of soldiers to protect their country to the best they can.
“It’s absolute lunacy,” Hamilton insisted. “Our military is meant for lethality purposes – for protecting and defending our country. It is not a social petri dish that is to be subjected to political experimentation.”
Hamilton maintains that AFA supports the efforts of Missouri Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler, who is not satisfied with the Defense Secretary’s decision.
“The Defense Secretary – instead of completely pulling the plug on it – he’s delayed its implementation for six months, so you have conservatives in Congress who said if Secretary Mattis won’t do it, then they will do it,” the legal expert pointed out. “So, you have Vicky Hartzler – who’s a representative from Missouri – who’s offering an amendment to the Defense Authorization Act that permanently terminates President Obama’s transgender mandate for the military.”
Hamilton announced that AFA is calling on concerned citizens to contact their members of Congress and urge them to support Hartzler’s amendment.
