Witches Claim to Live ‘Beautiful Way of Life’
December 11, 2017
With attendance at churches falling, it shouldn’t be too surprising that the number of Americans engaging in witchcraft is also rising.
New York City CBS News affiliate WCBS-TV recently did a story about the Church of the Eternal Circle, the state’s only legally recognized “wiccan church.” They spoke with the pagan group’s founders, husband and wife Anton and Lisa Stewart, for a featured news piece last week.
In their interviews, Lisa Stewart said:
“We follow the tradition of the craft of the wise—witchcraft—and we are witches. The time is right. There are definitely more of us than you think. We have professionals of all kinds.”
Her husband added:
“To be a witch is incredibly relevant in today’s society.”
Lisa Stewart added:
“It’s really a beautiful way of life.”
The WCBS report states there could be as many as 1 million wiccans/pagans/witches in the U.S. Approximately 200,000 are believed to reside in New York State alone.
