Question: I just recently found your web article about Islam. I have recently come up against followers of Islam who attack the King James Bible as not being reliable because of who King James was himself. Have you come against this and if so, what can you lend as far as info to combat this? I look forward to hearing from you. Thanks
Answer: To be honest with you I have not heard of this argument before. However, it does not surprise me considering the enemy and how he thinks of every angle of attack. Actually, King James authorized the translation of the Bible into English, but he did not do it himself. There were forty-seven men in all, leading Bible scholars of England, who did the work. These men were the tops in the world, probably as good, if not better than we have today. In front of the New King James Version it has good background information concerning how it came about. [A more in-depth study could be done by reading F.F. Bruce’s book The English Bible].
However, the argument should not be about the King James Translation of the Bible into English, but on the Bible itself from the Hebrew, Greek, and Aramaic. Not even that so much, but that the Bible is God breathed. “.knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation, for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.” (2 Peter 1:20-21)
I have an article posted on the inerrant Word of God titled: Is There Even One Mistake in the Bible. In it we cover some questions like yours.
I hope this helps, I will be praying for you as you witness.
