Trump cabinet fellowships thru prayer, Bible study

U.S. Capitol 2President Donald Trump’s cabinet has made a commitment to engage in a weekly fellowship of prayer and Bible study to help lead America down a more  godly and successful path.

The gatherings were designed by a ministry serving government officials at all levels – regular fellowships that bring together key members of the Trump administration and other leaders in the nation’s capital.

“Vice President Mike Pence and eight cabinet secretaries sponsor the sessions, which occur weekly in Washington,” CBN News reported. “[The ministry is] led by the founder of Capitol Ministries [CM], Ralph Drollinger, who started working on arranging the Bible study during the Trump team’s transition to the White House.”

Leading biblically

Some major appointments made by Trump during the early stages of his administration have played major roles in making the fellowship a reality.

“Sponsors include Vice President [Mike] Pence; Secretaries Betsy DeVos, Ben Carson, Sonny Perdue, Rick Perry, Tom Price and Jeff Sessions; EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt and CIA Director Mike Pompeo,” the Christian news outlet announced. “These are some of the most influential people in the U.S. government gathering weekly to grow themselves spiritually.”

The biblical guidance was also designed to help the president whenever he has time in his chaotic schedule.

“Leaders of the Bible study say President Donald Trump is always welcome to join them,” CBN noted. “Prayer has been an evident part of this administration, with pastors often praying over Trump throughout the campaign.”

Drollinger insists that in order for the United States to prosper, it must be run by leaders who seek to do God’s will and seek His advice and direction.

“In terms of a country’s health and direction, when its leaders are seeking God, the nation is in a position to be blessed by God in ways that are ‘far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think,'” Drollinger told CBN New’s Beltway Buzz in reference to Ephesians 3:20.

In-depth discipleship

The U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate also hold Bible studies that are hosted by Capitol Ministries on a weekly basis – and all participants are expected to actively take part in the sessions and apply the biblical instruction to every aspect of their lives.

“This has been a wonderful time of prayer and fellowship, as I am presently teaching through the Sermon on the Mount, as well has handing out my weekly written Bible study as a homework assignment on a particular topic,” Drollinger shared.

Capitol Ministries seeks to reach hundreds of the biggest decision makers in the nation with the power of God’s Word.

“Catalytic to our ministry on the Hill is the ongoing, in-depth exposition of God’s Word, made available and applicable on a weekly basis to the 535 legislators in Washington, D.C.,” Capitol Ministries states on its website. “We are intent on accurately dividing the Scriptures, [as] Ralph Drollinger, president and founder of CM, teaches the study in the House of Representatives every week of session right after the conclusion of ‘first votes back.’”

Former Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.), who is on Trump’s Faith Advisory Committee, has voiced her support of the ministry, as America appears more divided than ever during the transition from former President Barack Obama’s Democratic-led government to Trump’s Republican leadership.

“This is a strategic moment in our nation’s history, [and] what we desperately need is a substantive ministry on the Hill …” states Bachmann on CM’s site. “Prior to [CM’s] arrival, there was little in the way of ministry that was intent on expositing God’s Word and making disciples amongst the members of both Houses.”

With regards to the U.S. Senate, CM is intent on biblically transforming society from the top down – a movement it is attempting to press forward at the state level, the federal level and the global level.

“[Drollinger] teaches the Senators Bible study on Tuesday morning in a rotation of Senate offices,” the ministry informs. “CM believes that nothing can substitute for this basic discipline in ministry; transformation and discipleship stem from ‘the renewing of the mind,’ (Romans 12:1–2). The ministry has started Bible studies in a number of state capitols and is currently working on expanding into international capitols.”

A president after God’s heart?

When discussing his take on Trump’s Christian faith last year, Family Talk President Dr. James Dobson believes that the 45th president genuinely seeks God’s guidance in his life.

“Only the Lord knows the condition of a person’s heart,” Dobson expressed before Trump won the presidency in a statement that is published on his Family Talk website. “I can only tell you what I’ve heard … Trump appears to be tender to things of the Spirit.”

The prominent Christian leader then noted that he and a number of other Christian and political leaders are intent on helping the president lead the nation down a godly path.

“[T]here are many Christian leaders who are serving on a faith advisory committee for Trump …” Dobson pointed out at the time on Family Talk. “I am among them. There are about 25 of us that include Jerry Falwell, Jr., Robert Jeffress, Jack Graham, Ben Carson, James Robison, Michele Bachmann, and many others whom you would probably know. We’ve all agreed to serve.”

Rev. Franklin Graham believes that Trump’s victory over Democratic rival Hillary Clinton was evidence of “the hand of God.”

“I think God intervened and put his hand on Donald Trump for some reason,” Graham told Fox Business Network’s Lou Dobbs earlier this year.

It has been the tradition of the Grahams to pray at presidential inaugurations, as Franklin prayed in 2001 for George W. Bush and his father, Billy Graham, prayed at several presidents’ inaugurations.

The younger Graham believes that God wants to take hold of America, once again – during Trump’s administration.

“It’s obvious that there was something behind this, and it was more than people understand,” Graham asserted to Dobbs. “I just think it was God.”
