Netanyahu to Trump: Stop Obama’s attacks on Israel

Benjamin NetanyahuIn the wake of the anti-Israel resolution issued by the United Nations that President Barack Obama refused to veto, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reportedly requested President-elect Donald Trump to block any more of the administration’s actions against Israel.

The nation of Israel expressed new concern that the Obama administration is geared on making more attempts to push the U.N. Security Council to pass additional resolutions that favor establishing a Palestinian state that would prove detrimental to the Jewish State, according to The Times of Israel.

Fighting back

Israeli leaders bitterly condemned the Friday decision of the U.N. Security Council to disallow the building of Jewish housing in the Palestinian-occupied West Bank – a resolution that Obama did not veto – and reportedly encouraged – despite the urging of many Republicans to block it.

“The Israeli prime minister held a 40-minute meeting with U.S. Ambassador to Israel Dan Shapiro on Sunday evening after summoning him to explain why the United States abstained on the resolution, allowing it to pass,” Newsmax reported. “Netanyahu also summoned all the envoys of the other countries with representatives in Israel who voted for the resolution, which passed 14-0.”

It is argued that the U.N. resolution was passed to punish Israel – effectively working to hinder any future negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians.

“Israel says the measure is biased against Israel and is only an attempt by the Palestinians to delegitimize the Jewish state and avoid any direct negotiations,” Newsmax’s’ Brian Freeman announced. “Critics of the resolution say that it will only harden positions and make an attempt at a peaceful solution to the conflict much more difficult.”

A new alliance

As a result of the America turning its back on Israel via Obama’s refusal to veto the U.N.’s anti-Israel resolution, Netanyahu has reached out to Trump and members of the United States Congress in an effort geared to send the message that nations who vote against Israel in future resolutions will suffer economic hardships at the hands of a Trump administration. – according to Israel’s Channel 2.

It has also been reported that the Jerusalem Municipality is slated to approve new housing in Jerusalem’s large Jewish neighborhoods that were constructed after the 1967 war, when Israel captured the area. This move has been recognized as Israel’s sign of defiance to the resolution.

Furthermore, The Jerusalem Post reports that Netanyahu visited the Western Wall Sunday evening – the second night of Hanukkah – to light the menorah – an act that further stressed Israel’s defiance, given its location in Jerusalem.

“The Western Wall – Judaism’s holiest site – is the outer wall of the Second Temple which stood on the plateau above it until destroyed by the Romans 2,000 years ago, and was part of the territory Israel won in the 1967 war and is thus covered by the resolution,” Freeman informed. ‘A Jewish temple first stood on the site 3,000 years ago, long before Islam, or Christianity, existed.”

In addition, Netanyahu emphasized on a Facebook post that the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah stands as a celebration of Israel’s defeat of the occupying Greeks, who entered Jerusalem and defiled the Temple. He also insisted that the area located over the pre-1967 lines are included as part of the Jewish homeland.

The anti-Israel policies pushed by Secretary of State John Kerry were also a major concern of the Israeli leader.

“Netanyahu fears that Secretary of State John Kerry will set out parameters for a Palestinian state in a speech on the Middle East that he says he will deliver in the next few days and then have a resolution enshrining those principles adopted by the Security Council in the time Obama has left in office,” Freeman continued.

Netanyahu expressed his condemnation of Obama’s role – in orchestrating the passage of the anti-Israel U.N. resolution – very clearly during a weekly Cabinet meeting held on Sunday.

“We have no doubt the Obama administration initiated [the resolution], stood behind it, coordinated the wording and demanded it be passed,” Netanyahu insisted.
