Report: VP Pence to headline ‘March for Life’
Just one week after taking the oath of office, Vice President Mike Pence – an evangelical Christian – will speak before the thousands expected to attend the 44th Annual March for Life, according to The New York Times.
That report describes historic Pence’s appearance at the premier pro-life event as “a sign of the movement’s new and growing authority in a government now dominated by Republicans.”
The White House has yet to confirm, however, that Pence will be speaking.
Other Republican officials have spoken at past pro-life marches in the nation’s capital, but only remotely via telephone or video.
Speakers confirmed to speak include the senior counselor to President Donald Trump, Kellyanne Conway; three members of Congress – Senator Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), Rep. Mia Love (R-Utah), and Rep. Chris Smith (R-New Jersey); Baltimore Ravens tight end Benjamin Watson; Christian author and speaker Eric Metaxas; and Abby Johnson, a former director of a Planned Parenthood facility.
