Bible translationA campaign focused on engaging people with the Bible and getting them to think about why God’s Word matters has spread more widely than organizers dreamed.

Last September, Wycliffe Bible Translators USA launched the #WhyBible campaign, reaching more than 1.6 million people during the month by creating a social media forum for people to share testimonies of how God’s Word impacts their lives. They did it again this year for the month of September, wanting to go beyond just the United States. And with numbers still coming in, spokesman Scott Everhart says the campaign has been globally successful.

“It’s been really exciting to see God work through us to bring this conversation into not an American conversation or a Wycliffe conversation, but into a human and global conversation,” he shares. “That was our goal all along — to really elevate the Bible into the consciousness of the planet again and try to drive that awareness, and we’re seeing that happen just in year two.”

Everhart tells OneNewsNow the world’s largest Scripture translation organization hopes to continue this momentum.

“We never dreamed it would be this widelyspread in year two, and so we’re just looking forward to year three,” he reports. “We’ve got some ideas about where to take it next year and all the way [through] year ten and beyond.”

Wycliffe is committed to doing this campaign annually during the month of September.
