WI school pushes back after transgender pushed first

gender-neutral bathroomAnother transgender student, this time in Wisconsin, is suing her school district in an effort to use the boys’ facilities.

The lawsuit was filed on behalf of 16-year-old Ashton Whitaker, a biological female who is a student at Tremper High School in Kenosha.

Julaine Appling of the Wisconsin Family Council says it seems the district has chosen to push back against the Obama administration.

“Kenosha says, and I have no reason to doubt it, that they have certain internal rules and regulations and policies that they are putting into play,” says Appling. “And apparently they have said that they don’t think the federal government has a right to come in and tell them as a school district what to do.”

That’s a reference to the recent controversial directive from the U.S. Department of Education that public schools must accomodate transgender students or risk losing federal funding. Some schools have designated a special restroom for transgender students, such as one used by faculty, only to be told that’s still discriminatory.

Many schools, public officials and parents are pushing back at the federal arm-twisting, however, and Kenosha is among them according to Appling.

Tremper High is part of the Kenosha Unified School District. The city of Kenosha has approximately 100,000 residents.

Appling alleges that Whitaker is another pawn in a dangerous political game homosexual activists are playing.

“You’re going to see more and more of these individual lawsuits popping up all over the country,” she predicts, “filed by students who are like this girl in Kenosha, who are being used, in my opinion, by those who want to advance their very liberal and dangerous agenda.”

While homosexual activists claim they’re fighting a civil rights crusade over restroom access, Whitaker and others are considered mentally ill. That’s because transgenderism is considered a mental disorder by the American Psychological Association.

Two other transgender students, one in Virginia and another in Maryland, have also filed lawsuits similar to Whitaker’s.
