The leaked documents say that America brought weapons to Yemen from 2009 to 2015, before the beginning date of the armed conflict.
(VERO BEACH, FL) On Friday, WikiLeaks announced more than 500 leaked documents from the US Embassy in Yemen which show that Washington armed, trained and funded Yemeni forces before the outbreak of civil war in 2015.
“The documents reveal, among other things, the acquisition of many different types of weapons,” says WikiLeaks. According to WikiLeaks, which states that the USA, among others nations, provided Yemen with aircraft, ships and vehicles, and also proposed to control their maritime border security and delivery of biometric systems.
WikiLeaks quotes the words of its founder, Julian Assange, who said that although “the war in Yemen has caused 3.15 million displaced internally” and “the US government has provided most of the pumps and is very involved in its development,” its coverage by media in English “is visibly poor.”
Yemen is immersed since 2014 in an armed conflict between the Shia hutíes and forces loyal to President Abd Rabbo Mansur al-Hadi, who was forced to leave the country. The coalition of Arab states led by Saudi Arabia in March 2015 launched a military intervention in the country with air strikes against Yemeni rebels.
