We are Daughters of the King

On February 15, 2020, She Loves Out Loud prayer movement will be hosted by churches and small groups nationwide. It is a time for women to pray in unity for the healing of hearts, for the future of children and for America. The Stream is profiling some of the women — women like you and me — who will be taking part in what is destined to be a powerful and profound day.

“I remember seeing my dad get baptized when I was 5 years old,” Lynette Ezell told The Stream. “I was standing in the pew and I remember — I didn’t know about Jesus — but at 5 years old I stood in the pew and I remember thinking, ‘This is a good thing. Whatever has come to our home, this is a good thing.’” Lynette is thankful that someone cared enough about her father to share Jesus with him.

Shortly afterward, Lynette’s mom and dad began praying over her for her spouse and her future. “They were very, very simple people, but they began to really trust the heart of God.”

A Privilege to Pray

Lynette is an Adoption and Foster Care Advocate for the Southern Baptist North American Mission Board (NAMB). When she’s not busy planting churches in North America or Puerto Rico, working with foster kids or doing disaster relief, she co-hosts a podcast called The Adopting and Fostering Home Podcast.

She said it’s a privilege to pray as a child of God. “I take my brokenness, worries and fears to the Lord and He lovingly redirects and assures my soul of His sovereignty and strength. Sitting still in His presence fills me with praise, thankfulness and deep trust. Through prayer, I can confidently say, ‘Your kingdom come in my life today, Your will be done!’”

Lynette has seen God work in answer to her prayers. When she and her husband adopted a daughter from Ethiopia, she immersed herself in prayer. “She was three years old. It was literally stick arms, swollen belly, like starvation,” recalled Lynette. Face down in the carpet by her toddler’s bedside at night, Lynette would pray fervently for her child. “Father, I need you to heal her brain, heal her pain, heal her trauma, heal her hurting, heal her lack of trust.”

Now at 15, her daughter is succeeding in school, in good health and leads others to Christ. “And just seeing her share her faith now — that’s an answer to prayer. We brought home a terrified, broken, sick child and God’s brought so much healing to her life. The only thing I brought to the table was prayer. It was just prayer.”

She Loves Out Loud

Lynette will now be part of She Loves Out Loud — the women’s prayer movement on February 15, 2020. She’ll be conducting an interview of Carol Kent about praying for the future of our children. Lynette said she wanted to join the movement to encourage and help equip other women to stay faithful where the Lord has placed them. “It’s a unique opportunity to stand shoulder to shoulder and proclaim that we adore Jesus and are working to further His kingdom. And despite our brokenness or past mistakes, we can shout to the world that we are daughters of the King and we love fiercely!”
