Question: Where do dead believers go?
Answer: Answer: First, believers never die, their bodies go to sleep, but their spirit and soul go to heaven immediately. St. Paul under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit said, “So we are always confident, knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord. For we walk by faith, not by sight. We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.” (2 Corinthians 5:6-8)
Paul also said in Philippians. 1:23 “For I am hard-pressed between the two, having a desire to depart and be with Christ, which is far better. Nevertheless to remain in the flesh is more needful for you.” There is nothing in these verses about ‘soul sleep’ as the Seventh Day Adventists teach, as soon as Paul would pass from this life he said he would be in the arms of Jesus.
Jesus made it clear that the body of the Christian dies or goes to sleep, but our spirit does not die. “Most assuredly, I say to you, if anyone keeps My word he shall never see death.” (John 8:51) Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die [physically], he shall live [in his/her spirit]. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?” (John 11:25-26)
We as Christians do not think about death, we think about life. We are only looking for Christ’s return for us. As our pastor says, it may be a personal rapture for us or it may be when Christ raptures the Church out, but for us there is no death. So your question should read, “Where does the spirit go when our bodies die? The answer for your question is they go to heaven to the place Christ is preparing for us. “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.” (John 14:1-3)
Then you want to look at this answer as well: Where does the Christian go at death?
I hope this is what you were looking for,
