Trump, the leader, OK with ‘no-sayers’
Personnel, as the saying goes, is policy. Consequently, who Trump surrounds himself with will go a long way toward predicting what kind of leader he will be. In that regard, political consultant Jeff Crank likes what he sees.
“He’s shown in the last couple of weeks that he does surround himself with those people – and honestly, that is the sign of a great leader,” he tells OneNewsNow.
Case in point: Trump saw Senator Ted Cruz’s non-endorsement speech beforehand – and still, he let it go. Secondly, the GOP presidential nominee hasn’t asked for the endorsement of the panel of evangelical leaders he has advising him.
Dr. Richard Land of Southern Evangelical Seminary is on that panel.
“I know people who know [Trump] well and worked with him – people I trust – and they tell me that he does not mind straight talk,” says Land. “[They say] he does not mind people who disagree with him telling him why they disagree with him and making their case.”
Leadership expert Dr. Jack Goodyear of Dallas Baptist University’s Gary Cook School of Leadership says that’s a necessary trait.
“Any good candidate – whether it’s in the political realm, business realm, educational realm – should make it a priority for them to be transparent enough and open enough that they ask for that criticism,” he explains, “that they intentionally put people around them who they know will tell them the truth and tell them honestly how they’re feeling.”
All that has Crank reevaluating his support for Trump.

“Not only am I coming around, I’m there,” he says. “Nobody can reasonably say that it’s the lesser of two evils [in this election] because this next president is going to appoint three Supreme Court justices, at a minimum – [and] they will rule long after I leave this earth. It’s just time to get on board and support the guy.”
According to the political consultant, Trump has the potential of being a truly great president – if he continues to listen to those who are willing to disagree with him.
