Letter to Giglio urges adherence to principles
Wesley Wildmon, director of outreach at American Family Association and social media coordinator for EngageMagazine.net, attended the Passion conference five years ago and says it’s “amazing to see how God has used” Pastor Giglio in recent years.
Still, Wildmon says he’s concerned about Giglio’s invitation to Carrie Underwood to appear at Passion 2017.
“Back in 2012, she publicly approved and stood with homosexual marriage – and we know that scripture does not stand with that,” Wildmon explains in an interview about the letter. “In fact, it tells us as Christians that we should warn people against it and ask them to flee from it.”
Wildmon also points out that Jesus said marriage is between one man and one woman.

“With the many Christian artists who believe and teach the full counsel of God’s Word available to lead worship at Passion, why would you choose one who publicly states homosexuality is not a sin?” he asks in his letter to Giglio.
OneNewsNow was unsuccessful in reaching Pastor Giglio for comment. Wildmon hasn’t heard from Giglio either – but he has heard from others about his article.
“… I’ve had many people who responded to my article, one in appreciation for it, but [another] had no idea about Carrie Underwood’s stance,” he tells OneNewsNow.
The open letter is available at EngageMagazine.net.
