Trump WH expands pro-life policy
As President Trump took office in January, he re-implemented the “Mexico City Policy,” which bars use of taxpayer funds to promote or perform abortions overseas. Mallory Quigley with the pro-life Susan B. Anthony List says that eliminated $600 million – but now the policy has been expanded to $8.8 billion in foreign aid including all foreign health assistance in all U.S. agencies.
“So Planned Parenthood International, Marie Stopes International – these organizations that have an obsession with promoting abortion and performing abortions and treat it likes it’s healthcare, which of course it is not – will no longer be eligible to receive international health aid unless they promise not to perform or promote abortion,” she explains.
Quigley also told OneNewsNow that for years the U.S. and other countries have been undermining developing countries, especially in Africa and Latin America, where abortion is either against the law or against religious beliefs – and where children are prized.
“And so now we won’t be undercutting pro-life nations that need our assistance but certainly believe that abortion is not healthcare,” she adds.
The policy expansion, announced through the State Department on Monday, doesn’t reduce U.S. aid, but it does make sure the money is used for entities that provide truth healthcare to improve and save lives of people in developing nations.
