America’s children being trampled by ‘identity revolution’
A recent Harris Poll survey shows a marked increase in millennials identifying as being “bisexual” or as something other than heterosexual. Laurie Higgins of the Illinois Family Institute attributes that, in part, to public schools indoctrinating students with the leftist ideology that homosexuality is normal.
“We introduce all this indoctrination from a very young age,” she tells OneNewsNow. “They’re starting in public schools through either ‘bullying prevention’ programs or through social and emotional learning standards. They’re introducing ideas about ‘gender identity’ as young as kindergarten.”
The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation – which commissioned the survey – claims it reveals “a remarkable new era of understanding and acceptance among young people who increasingly reject traditional labels like ‘gay/straight’ and ‘man/woman,’ and instead talk about themselves in words that are beyond the binary – they are, in essence, igniting an identity revolution.”
That being the case, says Higgins, Christian parents need to think seriously about pulling their children from public schools while, at the same time, not abandoning public schools.
“But our taxpaying dollars are still subsidizing them. And, in addition, the kids who are in public schools now are going to be our culture-makers in a few years,” she explains. “So we have to be involved in that – but not with our own kids.”
In support of that argument, Higgins wrote in April that children and teens are not “missionaries” to be sent to public schools. “It’s not their job in school to teach ethics or engage in apologetics,” she argued. “Sound, holistic education and training precede the mission field.”
The New American reported in March that Dr. James Dobson of the nationally syndicated radio show “Family Talk” also has called for Christians to take their children out of public schools.
