Pastors rally around devastated TX church

TX church shooting crossesA church pastor who leads a congregation near the site of the Nov. 5 massacre in Texas says the community is rallying around First Baptist Church.

James McClure is pastor of Northview Baptist Church in Floresville, located just 14 miles away from First Baptist in Sutherland Springs.

“We all love them and I think they are going to realize that,” McClure says of the church and small community. “They know that anyway, but I think some of the people that weren’t involved are going to see the love spread out.”

McClure and others are hosting a prayer gathering scheduled for tonight, Nov. 8, that will include Vice President Mike Pence and Gov. Greg Abbott.

Meanwhile, McClure says he and other pastors in the area have been taking a cue from Frank Pomeroy, the First Baptist pastor who was gone when a gunman opened fire in the sancturary killing 26 and wounded more than 20 others.

“Frank said it best in the interviews that he’s giving: We don’t have all the answers but my God does,” McClure tells OneNewsNow. “And He’s sovereign. He’s the one in control.  But we can reach out to Him and He will give us comfort.”
