Campaign advances against destructive career of longtime abortionist
OneNewsNow has for years reported on the saga of abortionist Steven Chase Brigham who has lost or surrendered his medical license in six states, yet maintains ownership of a string of abortion clinics on the East Coast. The latest episode of the saga involves a shop Brigham set up in the nation’s capital.
Phase one of the campaign against this clinic includes pro-lifers praying in front of the clinic and informing women of the danger they might face in Brigham’s facility. Catherine Foster, president and CEO of Americans United for Life, tells OneNewsNow that during phase two of their battle that Brigham could face legal problems.

“Currently opening up his business right here in our nation’s capital is apparently illegal. He apparently doesn’t have a business license,” she explains. “Even more appalling is that DC would allow this, that all he would need would be to obtain a business license and then he would following the letter of the law.”
In essence, Brigham would be doing abortions in a district that has no limit on abortions, no clinic regulations or inspections. So Foster counters that Americans United for Life will be using the Brigham situation to try raising awareness of these legal inconsistencies with the city council.
Foster says the pro-life group plans to accomplish this task by “taking the model legislation in our Defending Life Manual – the playbook for how to enact pro-life law – and encourage them to begin passing some of these laws that would enact common sense health and safety regulations for women.”
She also believes that regularly announced inspections are vital.
Taking Brigham to task over the business license issue as well as government oversight of clinics, Foster believes, will help in dealing with the outliers of the abortion industry.
