Pence urges Evangelicals to match ‘motivated’ Left
“The other side is mobilized and some say they’re motivated as never before,” Pence told the Values Voter Summit. “But I say we must match — in fact, I say we must surpass — the energy of the American left and their enthusiasm. And if we do, we will win.”
The clock is ticking toward the Nov. 6 midterm elections, now six weeks away, with some still predicting a “Blue Wave” thanks in part to Democrats motivated by their hate for President Donald Trump.
Democrats are enjoying a single-digit lead on the generic congressional ballot” at RealClearPolitics.com with a 48-41 difference.
The political website currently shows nine toss-ups in the U.S. Senate and 40 toss-ups in the U.S. House, and political analysts are predicting Democrats could take control of at least one of those political bodies.
New polling figures from Gallup, meanwhile, show 45 percent have a favorable view of the Republican Party, a nine-point jump from this time in 2017.
“It is the party’s most positive image since it registered 47% in January 2011,” Gallup reported.
Veteran conservative Bob Vander Plaats, known for his savvy election predictions, tells OneNewsNow that Evangelicals will be pivotal on Election Day.
“It’s all going to be about turnout,” he says. “There’s no doubt when you take a look at those in opposition to a Christian worldview, they are definitely energized.”
Those far-left activists will show up at the polls, he predicts, so complacency among conservative voters is the greatest enemy to keeping a GOP majority.
Walker Wildmon of the American Family Association was in the audience when Pence addressed VVS and tells OneNewsNow he left the gathering still thinking about Pence’s warning that Trump’s successes could be “wiped away” on Election Day.
“It really stood out to me,” he says, “because Vice President Pence is not one to use hyperbole or make urgent calls to action when they’re not needed.”
