‘Let There Be Light’ Coming to Theaters Oct. 27
October 20, 2017
In the faith-based film “Let There Be Light” opening in theaters next weekend, Kevin Sorbo plays a man who turns to atheism after a tragic loss and is brought back to faith after a near-death experience.
The film’s official synopsis reads, in part:
After losing his young son to cancer, Dr. Sol Harkens has dedicated his life to the cause of atheism. As a best selling author and a celebrity debater, he has managed to parlay his attacks on Christianity into a very lucrative business … Sol’s self-destructive habits eventually catch up to him and a serious car crash leaves him clinically dead for four minutes before he is finally resuscitated by some heroic first responders.
In a recent interview with The Daily Caller, Sorbo said the film is part of his personal effort to reform American culture through Christian entertainment. He added the movie that will “touch everybody, man woman and child” and make them say, “I can relate to that.”
Sorbo’s wife, Sam, co-stars in the film, and they both served as producers. She said the film comes at a particularly critical time for the country:
“[A]s a culture, we don’t look at death, we don’t look at what happens later. We’re very much the “Me! Me! Me! Now! Now! Now!” generation. And I think it’s important … What’s fascinating is right now we are seeing the underbelly of Hollywood. I mean, we are seeing the dregs of the dregs. The truth is coming out and it’s not pretty at all. And at the same time our movie’s coming out and our movie was produced, seriously, outside of Hollywood, by a completely independent producer who just wanted to make good quality family friendly films.”
Nationally syndicated talk radio host Sean Hannity is executive producer of the movie.
