Pro-lifers record confrontation with school principal
Pro-life activists with Created Equal gathered outside South Side High School in Fort Wayne, where they were talking to students about abortion.
But they were confronted by principal Carlton Mable (pictured above), who repeatedly told them to leave in a tense confrontation that was recorded (see video below).
Thomas More Society attorney Tom Dixon, who has viewed the video, says it shows the principal “aggressively approaching” the activists, threatening them about recording him, and demanding that they leave “his” property.
The activists were holding signs depicting graphic photos of aborted fetuses, and the video recording purports to show the principal throwing one of the signs to the ground.
A police officer is seen on the video talking to Mable, and Created Equal says the police officer informed him the activists had a constitutional right to be there.
It’s not clear why the police officer’s conversation was not recorded but Mable appears unhappy near the end of the video, where he says the signs are “pornographic to me.”
Thomas More Society has sent a letter demanding that Principal Mable issue a formal apology.
“You can’t just claim ownership over public property,” says Dixon, “and then aggressively attack people who are peacefully demonstrating on public property simply because you’re not happy with the message or you don’t like the message.”
