Apparently to the executives at Netflix a cartoon using adult voice actors portraying children who engage in sexual activity doesn’t constitute child pornography.

That was the underlying message delivered in a shocking trailer for the upcoming first “season” of the online streaming service’s “Big Mouth” show, which becomes available Sept. 29. The show focuses on a group of children going through puberty and becoming sexually active.

In one scene in the trailer, a young girl holds a conversation with the reflection of her genitalia in a mirror. Male and female versions of “hormone monsters” are depicted as characters with which the child characters interact, as well.

The official Netflix description for the series reads:

Teenage friends find their lives upended by the wonders and horrors of puberty in this edgy comedy from real-life pals Nick Kroll and Andrew Goldberg.

The Activist Mommy blog is calling for a boycott of Netflix in response to the disturbing details of the program:

Racy adult-style cartoons are not a new phenomenon, but scores of users are incredibly put off by a number of the grotesque insinuations from the show.

“It’s like a cartoon of pedophilia, nice,” wrote one commenter on the YouTube page for the trailer, which is so disgusting and vile we won’t even link to it.

“The profanity and crudeness makes it unsuitable for a younger audience, and the fact [that] it’s about literal kids going through puberty makes it unsuitable for an older audience,” shared another user.

It’s pretty disturbing to imagine that network honchos would give this piece of filth the green light. Do we really need deviant sexual behavior to be normalized?
