Suggested new name: ‘Avoid Parenthood’
Planned Parenthood, which annually receives over a half billion dollars in funds from the federal government, claims to provide extensive healthcare to the poor. But Lila Rose of Live Action says the abortion conglomerate’s own figures don’t bear that out.
“The folks who run Planned Parenthood boast that they provide life-saving cancer screenings – and they do … just not that many of them. Less than two percent of the nation’s screenings each year,” she said earlier today in audio aired on American Family Radio.
“They talk about providing breast exams,” she continued. “They do, but just not that many of them – again, less than two percent of the nation’s total.”
According to Rose, when a woman seeks an abortion, for example, several steps are taken – pregnancy tests, prescriptions, and so forth; but PP adds those up to suggest services were provided to several patients, when it is actually services for only one.
“They talk about providing ultrasounds. But the last thing they want to do is to show a pregnant woman an image of her growing child – so they don’t,” she explained. “The ultrasound is only for Planned Parenthood’s use to better facilitate patients’ abortions.”
Abortion is the primary Planned Parenthood service, doing over one-third of the nation’s abortions. Rose said that’s equivalent to every resident of St. Louis or Pittsburgh wiped out every year. That’s over 880 abortions every day, an abortion every 98 seconds.
She contends, therefore, that Planned Parenthood does little to “plan” for parenthood but more for helping people to escape it. Based on that, Rose argues her case that the abortion-provider’s name is misleading.
