Bush Press Secretary chimes in on Susan Rice scandal
April 04, 2017
On Tuesday former White House press secretary Ari Fleischer chimed in on the reports that Susan Rice unmasked President Trump and his associates
(VERO BEACH, FLA) In a nine part twitter rant Tuesday morning, Lawrence Ari Fleischer, President George W. Bush’s press secretary between 2001 and 2003, gave his analysis of the mainstream media blackout of reports that President Obama’s National Security Advisor Susan Rice was one of the high level officials responsible for the unmasking and leaking of intel on President Trump and his associates.
“I am stunned by the lack of curiosity most media have shown about the facts and circumstances present here,” Fleischer tweeted. “This is a good example of media giving soft coverage to President Obama while they’re hard on the GOP in general & Trump in particular.”
“I would have thought the media would ask tough questions, Fleischer tweeted. “There is no reason this should be a FOX News and conservative press issue only.”
Fleischer noted that though Susan Rice would have legally had the authority to request unmasking of American names from U.S. intelligence agencies as the President’s National Security Advisor, reporters should still be asking about the details surrounding the controversial requests.
“If I were a reporter, I would want to know why Rice sought the unmasking,” Fleischer said. “The FBI is investigating possible Trump collision, not the WH.”
“How often did she ask? What reasons did she give? Did she share it? With whom? Why? Fleischer suggested reporters ask Susan Rice. “Each request is tracked and catalogued in writing by the NSA. A procedure exists. The info would have been provided ONLY to her as the requester. It is highly classified,” Fleischer ended.
Fleischer’s tweets today follow reports that she was responsible for not only for the unmasking of former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn, but also requested spy agencies produce “detailed spreadsheets” of the calls between President Trump and his associates.
