Let’s start with the Swiss Alps gathering of many of the most powerful and influential people in the world. The World Economic Forum 2018 officially starts Tuesday in Davos, Switzerland. According to the World Economic Forum’s mission statement, the nonprofit Swiss foundation is “committed to improving the state of the world by engaging business, political, academic, and other leaders of society to shape global, regional, and industry agendas.”
The four-day meeting brings together over 2,500 top corporate leaders, heads of state, economists, and news media journalists to discuss the most important issues in the world. In addition to the global event, the World Economic Forum also hosts regional forums in Asia, Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa.
The World Economic Forum is funded by 1,000 corporations. Corporations tagged as Strategic Partners each contribute over $600,000 per year.
Over 100 heads of state and corporate executives will participate as speakers in various panels. The speakers include President Donald Trump, Jordan’s King Abdullah II, IMF Managing Director Christine Lagarde, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker, UK Prime Minister Theresa May, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, and Spain’s King Felipe VI.
Your Trunews team will be in the World Economic Forum Tuesday through Friday. We were invited by the White House to cover President Trump’s speech to the assembled globalists. We did not seek to go to this global event. The White House invited us at the last minute. We had a short window to accept or decline.
The last-minute invitation came as a surprise to us. A Trunews television production team will accompany Doc Burkhart, Edward Szall, and me to Switzerland. If all goes well, we will broadcast Trunews from Switzerland Tuesday through Friday. Please follow us online at Trunews.com and on social media. I may even become Twitter friendly and tweet up a storm from Davos.
This trip is expensive for us. We didn’t budget for it. Many of our Trunews fans have responded with generous donations. If you would like to be a cosponsor of Trunews going to the World Economic Forum, your gift of any size will be received with much gratitude.
