God’s Word makes it clear that we are to pray for those in authority. And in the Old Testament, you find many kings. And very few of them didn’t have a prophet in their ear. Yet, for doing just that with President Trump, I’ve actually had people tell me they’ll never support the outreaches of LIFE again — that I’m a false prophet.
But two verses explain why I’ve invested in time and prayer with the president: “I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men, for kings and all who are in authority.” (1 Timothy 1-2a) “and My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14.)
We’re commanded to pray for those in authority and God does answer prayer.
After his rally in New Mexico, President Trump tweeted, “We are all united by the same love of Country, the same devotion to family, and the same profound faith that America is blessed by the eternal grace of ALMIGHTY GOD!”
Perhaps we saw a hint last night of answered prayer. And a clear signal our prayers and petitions and counsel mustn’t cease.
