President Trump Sends Kushner to Broker Peace in Palestine
June 19, 2017
On Monday the White House announced that Jared Kushner and Jason Greenblatt are being sent later this week to the Middle East to oversea Israeli Palestine peace talks
(VERO BEACH, FL) Mr. Greenblatt, who currently serves as one of President Trump’s top national security aides, will arrive in the Middle East on Monday, with Jared Kushner following on Wednesday.
“It is important to remember that forging a historic peace agreement will take time and to the extent that there is progress, there are likely to be many visits by both Mr. Kushner and Mr. Greenblatt, sometimes together and sometimes separately, to the region and possibly many trips by Israeli and Palestinian negotiators to Washington D.C. or other locations as they pursue substantive talks,” a White House official told Reuters.
During their stay, Mr. Kushner and Mr. Greenblatt will separately travel to Jerusalem and Ramallah to meet with both Israeli and Palestinian leaders about taking the next steps in a unified peace deal for the region.
On Sunday, Mr. Greenblatt tweeted about his upcoming trip, writing: “Excited to be traveling back to Israel and the Pal. Territories to continue the discussion about the possibility of peace.”
The visit by U.S. Delegates comes almost a month after President Trump’s historic foreign trip to the Middle East, which included stops in Europe, Israel, Saudi Arabia, and the Vatican.
